The Gift

Before I came to the United States, I admired the freedom of speech in western and recognized
the freedom of speech I could get here as a gift. However, after the two-year of living in New
York City, I noticed the sense of terror inherent in the mass media, a symbol of freedom of
speech. In the mass media, the words that have a connection to harm the body are repeated,
which establishes a kind of sense of terror. Under such a kind of terror, the city is under control.
It makes me reconsider the gift appearance of freedom of speech. I decided to make a Gift to
show my attention to this kind of terror and explore the relationship between these messages,
freedom of expression, and the current political situation in the United States.
This work aims to bring the sense of terror in New York City to light. I want the audience to
question how I choose the keywords and how the mass media choose the keywords.
